Toyota Hilux N90 – Complete Specs & Off-Road Guide
The ninth generation of the Toyota Hilux was unveiled on November 10, 2025, launching simultaneously in Thailand, Europe and Australia. The exterior design was led by Toyota Australia — marking a significant shift in how the iconic pickup is developed. The new Hilux is available in Standard Cab, Extra Cab and Double Cab body configurations depending on the market, with a range of trim levels from basic WorkMate to off-road focused Rugged X and Overland variants. Engine options include the proven 2.8-litre 1GD-FTV turbocharged diesel producing 201 hp and 500 Nm of torque (automatic), now available with a 48V mild-hybrid system in select markets. The 2.7-litre petrol four-cylinder carries over from the previous generation. Perhaps the biggest news — Toyota confirmed fully electric and hydrogen fuel cell variants are on the way. The Hilux BEV (known as Hilux Travo-e in Thailand) is already on sale, powered by a dual-motor all-wheel drive system. A hydrogen FCEV variant is planned for 2028. The ninth generation Hilux makes it clear: this truck is no longer just a workhorse. It's evolving into a platform that will carry Toyota's electrification strategy into the off-road segment.
The Hilux N90 offers powerful engine options designed for both daily driving and extreme conditions. Turbo diesel engines provide high torque, making it ideal for towing and off-road use.
With a rugged frame, advanced suspension, and available four-wheel drive, the Hilux is built to handle mud, sand, rocks, and harsh environments with confidence.
